Very Good

Very good program, easy to use.

Wonderful Bible Tool

I had it on my PC and now have it on my Mac. Wonderful tool to study the Bible!

Great for PC and NOW - Great for MAC

I have used e-Sword for years as a PC app and I had a lot of paid Bibles and tools. I was reluctant to switch to my Mac platform because I thought I would have to buy them all over again. But I didn’t! The Bibles and tools downloaded to my Mac paltform using the same registration codes I had used on the PC. So now no matter which system I am on, I can use e-Sword, which I think is the easiset Bible software available. Thanks Rick for all of your great work!

Excellent Study Tool

I have use the PC version for years and found it excellent and more intuitive than my Wordsearch (just a ported over PC version that runs poorly) and especially Logos. The Mac version is even more intuitive. Although the Mac version doesn’t have as many resources as the PC version, it still has many good ones and I am hoping that it will add more in the future.

App and Bibles are Not free

Olive Tree is a better app. the app is free and additional bilbe versions are free also. This app costs 9.99 and you only get the KJV and ESV for free, every other version you have to pay for.

Growing in Wisdom

E-Sword has been one of the most important applications in helping me grow spiritually. I am able to look up words in the original language, which helps me to understand the context of the Scriptures. Although I am not a Hebrew or Greek scholar, I can get some idea of what the original authors meant when they wrote them. There are so many lies and so much deception out there today, that we need some way to understand what the Scriptures really mean and E-Sword has come to the rescue for me. Thank you Rick Meyers for writing this program!

Too steep a learning curve

This software is a waste of time and money. I have used MacSword and Eloquence to access E-Sword files, and use Accordance, Logos and just about every Bible app available from time to time. This has the most confusing and unintuitive user interface I have ever confronted. I don’t mind paying for Bible software (even over $400 for some) but this is a waste of $10.

Not worth buying it. Good app only if available for free

This is a good app only if would have been available for free. Not worth paying $9.99. Even after buying you don’t get all the translations especially the most popular one NIV. This is quite disappointing. MAP reference is quite poor. All the popular modules needs to buy again. There’s no study material for every chapter. Only available for few chapters. Doesn’t look like a comprehensive study material.

A very good tool for a great price!

I’ve worked with this tool for a long and it is great to finally have it on my Mac, thank you! I appreciate the hard work you have put into this study tool. I would like to have some other commentators beside the norm, like NT Wright, Gordon Fee etc, made available to get a little different perspective. At any rate thank you!

Works Excellently, But The Design and Layout Could Be Better!

Let me start off by saying that, overall, I really like your program. It took a little getting used to (last time I used E-Sword was on Windows, and it looked very different), but now I keep it side by side my word processor when I’m referencing Bible material. It really is a great resource, especially the commentary by F.B. Meyer on each book/chapter. However, I take small issue with the design and layout… it’s pretty messy. I’m not saying that your program must strive to win an award in design excellence or anything like that, but the style of it is very OS X Leopard. That’s small potatoes compared to the layout though, which is sometimes boggling to me. Perhaps I’m not experienced enough yet, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to go back or forward in the Bible, it must all be typed into the small bar in the top left. I do appreciate that you allow different types of layouts in the menu bar. Also, I find the sheer amount of “bars” confusing still… trying to memorize which one do this or that is difficult, especially creating different study notes. It could use some touching-up, is all. It feels wrong to nitpick a program that brings the Holy Bible to my desktop, but I only offer criticisms that could make the program easier to use… maybe make it more accessible to new users? Nevertheless, I wil continue to use it in conjunction with my real Bible. Thank you for bringing your program to Mac! God bless!

Excellent Format and great module selection!

I have used e-Sword for years. If you want modern translations or commentaries, you have to pay for most. However, hundreds of resources for e-sword X (mac version) are available if you search online. For Around $50 I have put together an awesome study resource!

Great bible study tool

I have tremendously enjoyed this app in my personal bible study. It is easy to use. I particularly like the ability to compare versions in parallel.

e sword is awesome

I have been using e-sword for about 15 years. I have found, with the modules I have purchased, it is one of the best Bible study and sermon preparation programs that are available. I have tried several Bible programs sbut I have not found any that can match e-sword. Now that I have transitioned from windows to an iMac I am glad to know e-sword is there. If you are looking for a Bible program that will help you study, research or even just read the Bible e-sword is the way to go. Thanks Rick for a great job!

Long time user

I started using E-Sword when Rick first brought it out, it is my primary Bible Study tool. I would recommend it highly to all.

Great Application

Over all e-Sword is a fantastic tool to study the Bible. With multiple editions, commentaries, maps, dictionaries, and more it is great for any user. The only thing I wish you could do with it is export journal and study notes. For some reason you are allowed to import, just not export.

Extremely Happy It’s On The Mac

I love this software…I have been using it for a long time (on windows). Now I am very happy to have it on the Mac. It’s very good for just being released. I hope that it can be tuned up...currently, the windows configuration does not stay as I have defined it and various other little things that can be tuned up. Overall very happy with the purchase and can’t wait for additional features that make it the e-sword that has been so wonderful on the windows side.

Jubilation

The reviews I am reading are not good enough and five stars are not enough for this App. GOD switched the light on February 2011. GOD placed Rick Meyers and e-Sword directly in my path to help me and others grow in faith. Praises be. I can only imagine the souls (I will be one) lined up behind Rick when he receives, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Here it is some five years later and my fellow servant in the Lord produced e-Sword for Mac. I’ve read some negative reviews, but the positive outweigh the negative. Five Stars? Easy, maybe six.

A Great Start

It’s got great potential, but it should be closer to the Windows App. A few notable issues: The use of the study notes are very confusing at best Navigating through the bible is too rudimentary Sure do miss the tabs on the commentaries You can’t search commentaries, etc, without clicking on a word

A MUST HAVE ! For every serious student of the Bible

I have been using this prorgam for may years now. I bought the Mac Version a few months ago for my new MacBook Air and I love it. I cannot express how great it is to have all of this material right in front of me. you would have had a wall full of books that you could not carry around not so long ago.

E Sword Extreme

As Christian and as an Adult Sunday School teacher can’t say enough good things about this app. Used Esword on PC for years, waited to use on Macbook. Told Christian brothers and sisters, like having your own personal seminary, with resoursces instantly available at your fingertips. Expand as you grow, more available than exaust in several lifetimes. So convenient, answer to prayer! Devil hates this app, tap into Gods war equipment effortlessly! Five stars not enough. When I bought IMac notebook, prayed that Esword would create Mac version. Having used for many years before, and now on Mac my love for this app undiminished! If I could wish for more, I would love to see Word of Promise audio bible E Sword, which is another wonderful tool, don’t know if possible. Hearing seems to aid in understanding word more clearly!
